The ceremony commemorating the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran was hosted by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and attended by His Excellency Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan.
During the event, President Zardari referred to the long-standing and significant cultural and people-to-people ties between Iran and Pakistan, stating that the Persian language is an ancient and historic language in the region—so much so that Pakistan’s national anthem is in Persian. He emphasized that Pakistan opposes any military actions in the region, instability in Iran, and sanctions against this neighboring country, and stressed the importance of diplomacy and dialogue to ensure lasting peace and stability.
He further noted that Iran is an important partner of Pakistan and affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening counterterrorism cooperation, promoting the welfare of both nations, developing shared border regions, and achieving common objectives.
The ceremony was also attended by several Pakistani political figures, including the Minister of Commerce, the Minister of Water Resources, and the Minister of Social safety. Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from various countries, members of the National Assembly and Senate, religious, academic, and cultural personalities, leaders of political parties, and a large number of supporters of the Islamic Republic of Iran were also present at the event.
